The music:
This free digital release returns to the dark ambient/noise beginning of VoidWork. Unlike “Basement”, which focuses on clean melodies and clear structures, “Dark Corners” is all about creating an oppressive atmosphere of desolation. I wanted to alternate atmospheres and genres in order to keep the album interesting. I also wanted to bridge the stylistic gap between "Asylum" and the upcoming release of "Basement" by combining both general influences. What is more, since the release is digital, the listener can easily rearrange the tracks
The story:
Originally conceived as an album about the wastelands of planet earth, the idea behind “Dark Corners” was adapted to fit a more general concept of desolation fear of what is hinted at in the dark places of our world as well as in the black corners of the human mind. There is little hope, I assure you.
I wanted to alternate atmospheres and genres in order to keep the album interesting. I also wanted to bridge the stylistic gap between "Asylum" and the upcoming release of "Basement" by combining both general influences. What is more, since the release is digital, the listener can easily rearrange the tracks the way they like.
